SWABI: Three people were killed and two injured in separate road accidents here on Saturday, police said.

A man identified as Siraj Iqbal, a resident of Zaida, was killed when his bike collided with a rickshaw near Sheikh Dheri bus stop in Shahmansoor.

In the second incident, two bikes and an oil tanker collided near Swabi Interchange on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, as a result, two bikers named Faizur Rehman of Chota Lahor and Shaukat Ali of Kunda village were killed on the spot. Kamran Khan and Khalid Khan, colleagues of Shaukat, were also injured. They were taken to Bacha Medical Complex, Shahmansoor.

Meanwhile, Topi tehsil traders demonstrated against Peshawar Electric Supply Company for its failure to repair a faulty transformer.

The protesters blocked the Tarbela-Topi road and warned that they would not end the blockade of the road till 200KV transformer was either repaired or replaced.

They chanted slogans against Pesco officials, saying despite their frequent visits to the local Pesco office no official was ready to repair the transformer.

Later, they ended the road blockade when Pesco and police officials assured them of replacing the power transformer.
