RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has declared four housing schemes illegal and directed owners to stop illegal advertisements and developments.

According to RDA spokesperson Mohammad Irfan, the authority has declared CPEC Resort, Abdullah City, Khanian Homes and Bin Alam City on Chakri Road, Rawalpindi illegal.

He said Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering Director Jamshaid Aftad has declared advertisements by these four housing societies illegal as well.

RDA issued notices to the owners of these four societies under Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules, 2010, warning them to stop advertisements immediately or the authority will seal their offices.

The RDA also advised the general public to not invest in illegal societies or they will themselves be responsible for any losses incurred.

Mr Irfan said RDA has also requested Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and Pakistan Telecommunications Company to not extend services to these illegal housing schemes as they are still unapproved.

He said RDA Director General Rana Akbar Hayat has directed the authority to take strict action against illegal commercial and residential construction activities, booking offices and encroachments without fear or favour.
