KARACHI: The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has felicitated federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on assumption of his office.

In a felicitation message on Monday, CPNE president Arif Nizami, senior vice president Imtinan Shahid, secretary general Dr Jabbar Khattak, vice presidents Ikram Sehgal, Ayaz Khan, Rehmat Ali Raazi, Tahir Farooq, Arif Baloch, joint secretary Aamir Mehmood, finance secretary Hamid Hussain Abidi and information secretary Adnan Malik assured the newly-appointed minister of the CPNE’s full support and cooperation.

They expressed the hope that Mr Chaudhry would play an effective role to ensure the freedom of expression, right to information, press freedom, and smooth and uninterrupted circulation of newspapers and magazines.

They also hoped that the information minister would work to release the dues of newspaper advertisements pending against the federal government, and to ensure the judicious and transparent distribution of government advertisements to print media.
