LAHORE: Newly appointed US consul general in the Punjab capital, Colleen Crenwelge, assumed her position here on Friday.

She succeeds Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau, who has been posted as the consul general in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

A career diplomat, Ms Crenwelge recently served as the deputy public affairs officer at the US Embassy in Kabul. Her other diplomatic postings included assignments as the political chief at US embassies in Mongolia and Azerbaijan, as well as tours at the US Mission to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the US embassies in Bolivia and Nigeria. In Washington, she served as a watch officer at the State Department’s Operations Centre.
