THE murder of two matriculate students from Faisalabad highlights brutality of our society. Arsalan and Usman, two friends who had gone outside to celebrate their result, were shot dead by police.
Police officials claimed the two were burglars, while their family members said an FIR had not been registered against the officials.
After every now and then we see extrajudicial killings followed by protests. The Naqeebullah Mehsud case is a perfect example. We also saw that Rao Anwar, who is believed to have murdered Naqeebullah, has been granted bail. The FIA denied his association in the encounter, asserting that he was not present at the time of the murder.
Our society is plagued by crimes. We should work on reforms in the criminal justice so we can ensure the protection of the common people and create awareness about fake police encounters.
