PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department on Monday claimed to have foiled a terrorist bid on the eve of the Independence Day by arresting a terrorist and recovering a bomb and detonators from him.

A statement issued here said that acting on a tip-off, CTD personnel arrested a man identified as Rehmanullah, resident of Sarband area of the city, from Qamar Din Ghari Chowk and recovered a homemade bomb from his possession.

It said that several detonators were also recovered from the outlaw.

The bomb disposal unit later defused the device.

It said that the accused was a member of a banned outfit and was being investigated.

Meanwhile, the city police on Monday notified reshuffle of several station house officers across the city.

Akhtar Naseer has been appointed SHO Hayatabad, Hassan East Cantonment, Sher Afzal Mathra, Sher Afzal Sarband and Ahmed Gul Khazana.
