PESHAWAR: The businesswomen from all major cities of the country displayed their products at about 50 stalls at the 5th Women Entrepreneurs Trade Fair that was kicked off at Palm Marquee here on Tuesday.

Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP), Peshawar, Ministry of Commerce, Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) have jointly organised the two-day event.

The trade fair is aimed at providing a platform to the businesswomen and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and encourage them to market the same in the best possible way.

The event is open to women and families only. The organisers have established 50 stalls where handmade cultural and traditional products, dresses, foods, handicraft, Charsadda shoes, art and craft, embroidered clothes, gemstones, handmade jewellery, leather products, mosaic work, jute wok, purses and clutches, beauty products, Karachi and Swat shawls, bed sheets, baby clothes, toys, kitchen utensils, furniture and other items have been put on display.

The TCKP has also set up an information centre where the visitors can obtain brochures, pamphlets and posters containing information about the tourist spots, archaeological and heritage sites.

The visitors can also enjoy music concert, fashion show, play land for children and other features at the event. Famous folk singers and artists also performed on the occasion to entertain the visitors.

Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fauzia Inayat, Fitrat Bilour, former president Nuzhat Rauf, Rukhsana Nadir, Rohi Zahir Shah, Nasira Luqmani, TDAP Director Sariruddin, Deputy Director Mohammad Awais Khan, Assistant Director Zahid Mohammad and others visited the stalls on the opening day.

They expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and participation of a large number of women in the trade fair.

The women entrepreneurs from all areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Swat, Hazara, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Mardan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral besides Gilgit-Baltistan and other major cities of the country including Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Karachi and Islamabad have put their products on display in the trade fair.
