PESHAWAR: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar, on Monday declared the results of the higher secondary school certificate examinations with the historic Islamia College Peshawar taking the lead this time.

Jansher Khan, a student of the college, topped the board by scoring 1,014 marks out of the total 1,100. He was followed by Maria Maqsood of the Jinnah College for Women, University of Peshawar, with 1,013 marks to clinch the overall second position.

Salwa Shaheen of the New Muslim Public School and College for Women, Charsadda, stood third by obtaining 1,012 marks.

The results were announced at an award distribution ceremony among the position holders at the board building.

Caretaker minister for education Prof Sara Safdar was the chief guest on the occasion. The ceremony was also addressed by chairman of the board Prof Fazlur Rahman Qureshi. Direction higher education Prof Subhanullah Qureshi was also present on the occasion.

The overall success percentage remained at 78 per cent.

Jansher Khan with 1,014 marks and Maria Maqsood with 1,013 marks also became first and second in the pre-medical group. Alishah Gulalai of Jinnah College for Women, Peshawar, with 1,011 marks, clinched the third spot in the pre-medical group.

Salwa Shaheen, who clinched the third sport overall, stood first in the pre-engineering group, Sayyed Fayyaz Shah of Islamia College stood second by obtaining 998 marks, while Irfanullah of Peshawar Model Degree College clinched third position with 994 marks.

Similarly, in computer science/general science group, Afifa Zainab Ahmad of Jinnah College for Women stood first by securing 964 marks, Abdul Kabir of Islamia College Peshawar secured second position with 934 marks and Mah Noor of Government Frontier College for Women, Peshawar, with 927 marks bagged the third spot.

In the arts and humanities group, Liaba Tahir of Jinnah College for Women stood first with 927 marks. She was followed by Iman Khan and Mehk Naved of the same college with 907 and 906 marks, respectively.

A private student namely Mohammad Idrees scored 907 marks and stood first in the theology group.
