RAWALPINDI: Elected representatives of lawyers on Tuesday urged the chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) to notify the attachments of Mianwali, Khushab and two tehsil of the Gujrat district- Sara-i-Alamgir and Kharian- with the LHC Rawalpindi Bench, so residents of these districts could get economical and speedy justice.

The burden on the LHC principal seat will also decrease with the attachment of these areas with the LHC Rawalpindi Bench, they said at a press conference at the Rawalpindi Press Club.

Lahore High Court Bar Association President Hassan Raza Pasha and General Secretary Hifza Bukhari argued that the distance between Rawalpindi and Mianwali is 219 kilometres while that between Lahore and Mianwali is 340km. Residents of Khushad and the two Gujrat tehsils will also have a shorter distance to travel if they have to go to the high court.

They appreciated the decision of LHC Chief Justice Yawar Ali of detaching Lodhran from LHC Multan Bench and attaching it with LHC Bahawalpur Bench and attaching Sahiwal district with LHC, principal seat.
