PESHAWAR: Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) has directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to expedite efforts for achieving the targets of controlling line losses and photo meter-reading with a view to enhance its performance.

The instructions were given by Pepco’s managing director Waseem Mukhtar while presiding over a high-level meeting at Pesco headquarters here on Saturday, according to a statement.

The Pepco chief directed the participants to work with professional zeal, dedication and national spirit to put Pesco on the path of success.

Mr Mukhtar said purpose of his visit was to monitor and compare the targets achieved with the targets given to the Pesco. He stressed the need to reduce line losses, enhance recovery and fully implement photo meter-reading to facilitate the customers.

The meeting was attended by chief engineers, director generals, directors and superintending engineers.

The meeting discussed various aspects to reduce line losses and increase the recovery. Matters pertaining to defective meters, progress achieved by implementing equipment removal orders, new pending connections, mobile meter-reading and its accuracy were discussed. Prevention of fatal accidents to line staff was also discussed. The Pepco managing director said line staff was precious asset of the company and directed them to adopt all safety measures during work on power lines.
