KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal on Saturday rejected the July 25 election results and termed them engineered.

In an interview with Geo News, he even supported the demand of rival party Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) for an investigation into allegations of rigging and recounting of votes.

He claimed to have known “everything” about the electoral process and vowed to come up with details very soon.

Mr Kamal questioned the delay in announcement of results and asked the authorities to order recounting of votes in Karachi’s constituencies where Pakistan Muslim League-N president Shahbaz Sharif and MQM-P leader Dr Farooq Sattar contested the election to “prove the truth”.

“No one tells why the results of Karachi were held back for two days,” he said. “I know what happened with Karachi elections and I would share the details with my people very soon. But just to get the reflection of all these happening let the constituencies of Farooq Sattar and Shahbaz Sharif be investigated. It will make things crystal clear.”

The PSP’s electoral performance was so poor that it got fifth or sixth position in many constituencies.

Mr Kamal himself contested election from one National Assembly and two provincial assembly seats and, according to unofficial results, lost in all three constituencies miserably. However, he is not ready to concede defeat, instead recounted his contribution in Karachi’s politics over the past two years.

“The mandate of Karachi has been stolen, so how one can call it free and fair elections. We are those who brought the politics of hatred and violence in Karachi to an end. We have promoted tolerance and coexistence after removing fear among the minds people and challenging those who were sowing that fear,” he said.
