LONDON: President Ayub Khan said here today [ July 27] that he was feeling fine.

In a brief chat with Press men before leaving for Selsdon Park Hotel, Surrey, he said, “Hammersmith Hospital doctors have examined me fully. They have given me a good bill of health. I am feeling fine.”

[Meanwhile, according to a report from Karachi,] doctors of the local Civil Hospital yesterday [July 27] appealed to all sane sections of the Press to be “more tolerant with the doctors”.

“We all make mistakes but mistakes in our case are never deliberate or mischievous and in majority of cases unavoidable,” said a resolution issued by the Action Committee of the Civil Hospital doctors last night. The resolution was adopted at a meeting of doctors to consider Daily Mashriq’s two features on the conditions prevailing in the hospital and the subsequent unfortunate incident involving the two sides. It “condemned” the “mischievous and grossly misleading” features.

“Unfortunately no newspaper adequately represents in their column the difficulties and the working conditions in which our doctors have to work,” the doctors complained, and suggested that “Press can play an important and constructive role in pinpointing the evils in our society.”
