RAWALPINDI: People from other cities residing in Rawalpindi and Islamabad left for their hometowns on Tuesday to exercise their right to vote.

People belonging to Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshehra and Swabi decided to take advantage of public holiday today (Wednesday).

Mohammad Latif, a government employee, said he was going to cast vote in favour of his candidate in the village. He said if he didn’t go the candidate of rival clan would win.

He said his family had gone to village soon after the summer vacation and insists he should also come and cast his vote.

Khursheed Khan, a resident of Mardan, said he received many phone calls from the relatives insisting him to come and cast the vote. He said the holiday would provide him an opportunity to exercise his right to vote in his hometown.

Shujaat Raja, a resident of Saddar, said Gujar Khan was his hometown and he was going to caste vote there.

He said that he tried to shift his vote in Rawalpindi but his family opposed it as they wanted to keep family votes at one place to build pressure on the candidate to get their problems solved.
