KARAK: The local chapter of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl has expelled its two district councillors for violating party discipline.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, JUI-F district president Hafiz Ibn-i-Ameen claimed that the decision to expel Maulana Naveedullah and Shah Zaman was taken by the district executive committee of the party for violating discipline.

He said that both the expelled councillors were warned to refrain from violating the party discipline but they continued the practice that forced the district organisation of the party to take the decision against them.

Mr Ameen alleged that they were running campaign for the candidates of rival parties. He said that both the councillors were not supporting the party candidates in their areas. He claimed that they were earning bad name for the party in the district. “It became necessary to expel them,” he added.

The JUI-F district chief said that the policy of punishment and reward would be followed in the party. “All those, who violate discipline, would be expelled from the party,” he added.

MEETING: The close circuit cameras were installed at sensitive polling stations in the district and officials of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) were directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to the polling stations.

A meeting held here on Tuesday with Additional Deputy Commissioner Naeemullah Khan in the chair reviewed preparations for the July 25 elections. The meeting was attended by assistant commissioners and tehsil municipal officers of Karak, Takht-i-Nusrati and Banda Daud Shah tehsils besides deputy directors of communication and works and public health engineering departments and Pesco.

The meeting was informed that 38 polling stations were declared sensitive in the district. It was said that CCTV cameras were installed at the sensitive polling stations and all the basic needs were provided to all polling stations.

The meeting was informed that 2,000 security men besides army and Frontier Constabulary were deployed at the polling stations across the district.
