LAHORE: Some 60 observers will monitor July 25 election in parts of the country.

European Union election observers chief Michael Gahler visited the PML-N headquarters in Model Town on Friday and met its central media committee chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed.

Mr Gahler told Mr Sayed that some 60 observers and seven members of the European Parliament would monitor the polls.

The PML-N senator appreciated the efforts of the EU and presence of its election monitors, hoping that this would help ensure a level-playing field for all the parties and transparency in polls. He informed Mr Gahler that the PML-N was being targeted legally, politically and administratively. He presented three fact sheets to him.

“Murder of Justice’ fact sheet pertains to the trial and conviction of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, ‘Uneven Playing Field’ is about actions of the government and NAB targeting PML-N specifically and the third pertained to the anti-rigging system (ARS) of the PML-N to expose and prevent rigging of any kind.”

A PML-N delegation, led by Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, will meet the delegation of Commonwealth Election Observers today (Saturday) in Islamabad.
