APROPOS the oped article (July 11). I agree with Rafia Zakaria that most prominent women in politics in Pakistan rose to that position because they were the sisters, daughters or wives of successful politicians.

Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari have reached their positions because they are related to a former successful leader. No one can imagine these two gentlemen in their current positions were they not the husband and the son of Benazir Bhutto, who herself rose to power because she was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
