RAWALPINDI: The principal of a private college was gunned down during a house robbery in Sadiqabad on Sunday.

Syed Umair Ali Shah, 38, was held at gunpoint by robbers who broke into his house as the family slept.

His brother-in-law, Ittefaq Ahmed Abbasi complained to the police that the robbers threatened to kill Umair if he did not hand over the cash and valuables in the house.

Umair’s wife gave them the cash and jewellery she had. The robbers then told someone on the phone that they the family only had their one-year-old son left.

Mr Abbasi quoted Umair’s wife as saying that the robbers then demanded that the couple hand over their son. She is said to have picked the child up and locked herself in the bathroom. The gunmen then killed Umair and made away with Rs250,000 and gold ornaments.
