ATTOCK: Some 60 police officers were suspended, fined or dismissed from service by District Police Officer Attock Ibadat Nisar due to various public and departmental complaints over the last three months, according to a progress report released by the Attock district police.

These include one inspector, six sub-inspectors, nine assistant sub-inspectors, eight head constables and 38 constables.

According to the report, 346 policemen were awarded certificates and cash prizes for good performance. The police officials who were awarded include SHO Bahtar Hamid Kazmi, SHO Hazra Javed Iqbal, DSP Fiazul Hassan Raja, SHO Israr Ahmed, SHO Mazhar Shah, SHO Bosal, in-charge IT Attock SI Jehanzeb Khan.

DPO Nisar told Dawn said ASP Hassanabdal Asif Bahadur launched a crackdown against narcotics smugglers and peddlers and also solved two blind murder cases in three days, when they had been a challenge for the department.

One of these cases was of a man who killed his brother with the help of his sons due to a dispute regarding the engagement of his nephew and granddaughter.

The DPO said ASP Bahadur found the body which was buried in a forest.

The second case was of a man who was kidnapped and shot by his friends for some Rs70,000 he was carrying.
