LAHORE: The Majlis-i-Wahdatul Mulameen candidate for NA-133, Syed Khurram Abbas Naqvi, on Thursday withdrew his candidature in favour of Ijaz Chaudhry of the PTI, saying since both the parties have gone into seat adjustment there is no need for a contest.
Addressing a press conference, MWM central secretary Syed Assad Naqvi said that the parties had seat adjustment in other areas of the country as well.
He said the PTI has agreed to support a female candidate of the MWM in Bhakkar.
Mr Naqvi said talks for such an adjustment were also underway in Sindh, where both parties were in a dialogue, hoping that soon a consensus would be reached.
After that, he said, both parties would struggle jointly to end hereditary politics and start a new era of development.
He said the MWM had also withdrawn its candidate in PP-67 in favour of the PTI.
PTI candidate Ijaz Chaudhry, who was also present on the occasion, said that both the parties had the same aim which was development of Pakistan and they were now launching a joint struggle for the purpose.
