Wall ads

KUDOS to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for noticing and promptly banning “wall advertisements” on Sharea Faisal (Dawn, June 10).

The CJP’s order begs a question: who authorised this at the cantonment and corporate levels? Was there no law to prevent these eyesores? How was electrification allowed?

Well-known brands are unscrupulously advertising their products and services on these ads. They should be made to pay for the demolition of these unauthorised construction to ensure more greenery. In Karachi and this must be done on a war footing.
