LAHORE: A man was allegedly found murdered along with his wife and minor son at his Gulberg residence in the wee hours on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Nadeem Butt (45), an employee of PIA, his wife Neelam (35) and son Faieq (9).

Police said they were found butchered. The boy was found dead with his throat slit open near the body of his father on the floor and his mother on the bed in a pool of blood.

The circumstantial evidence showed the family was killed by hatred, said Model Town SP Faisal Shahzad while talking to Dawn.

He said the police found blood prints of feet of the victims showing as if they tried to save themselves. They were attacked with a knife as police found multiple wounds on their bodies.

He said the relatives of the deceased alerted the police about the triple murder incident.

“Neelam’s sister visited her house in Canal Park, Gulberg, and on getting no response she unlocked the door and found the family dead,” the SP said adding that Nadeem was the owner of the house.

Neelam was his second wife. He had divorced his first wife some years back.

The SP said the police were clueless about the motive behind the incident.

Police talked to neighbours and relatives of the family but found nothing significant that could unfold the mystery behind the case, he said.

Police have taken into custody a CCTV camera installed outside the house.

Guard Shot Dead: A security guard of the Defence Housing Authority was reportedly shot dead in an ‘armed clash’ with some residents in Defence on Thursday.

According to initial details, the clash started when guard Anwar Javed reached the V sector along with his colleagues on a complaint that some armed men were trying to illegally occupy land belonging to the DHA.

The DHA security personnel asked the men to vacate the land. Both the parties exchanged hot words which led to an armed clash between the two sides, police sources said.

Defence C SHO Qamar Abbas denied reports of crossfire, saying the DHA security staff had asked the accused to leave the place.

He said instead of following the instructions, they opened fire on the security men, injuring Anwar Javed critically. He was rushed to a hospital where he died.

The SHO said police had registered a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act against the fleeing accused, including nine nominated and 20/25 unidentified.
