KARACHI: The administrative judge of the accountability courts on Wednesday remanded a former secretary of the provincial land utilisation department in judicial custody till July 3 in a case pertaining to alleged corruption through illegal conversion of lands in Karachi.

The suspect, Ghulam Mustafa Phull, was arrested by National Accountability Bureau officials outside the Supreme Court Karachi Registry following dismissal of his application for pre-arrest bail on Tuesday.

Earlier, Mr Phull, currently serving as commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah) district, had escaped from the Sindh High Court premises after dismissal of his identical bail plea last month.

NAB had filed a reference against the former secretary and others, alleging that they were involved in illegal conversion of 70 acres of industrial land to residential/commercial purpose in 2011. The land is situated in deh Phihai, Korangi.
