LAHORE: PML-Q senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and its former parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Moonis Elahion on Sunday filed their nomination papers for NA-69 and PP-30 Gujrat, respectively amid seat-adjustment talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

The PTI has not yet nominated any of its candidates for both the seats.

“The PTI is unlikely to field its candidates against the leadership of PML-Q. Talks in this regards are underway between the PTI and PML-Q and a decision will be announced shortly,” a senior PTI leader told Dawn.

According to a PML-Q leader, there has been an understanding between the two parties that they would not let PML-N win in Punjab in the general election. “There are several seats in Punjab where our candidates lost the last election by a margin of about 2,000 votes.

We are sitting together to analyse the situation and hopefully will work out an understanding at the end of the day in this regard,” he added.
