TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami on Friday announced that the party chief Senator Sirajul Haq would contest the next general elections from NA-7 constituency of Lower Dir as the candidate of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.

The announcement was made by the JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan at a news conference at the Timergara Press Club.

He also announced the JI candidates for the remaining one NA and provincial assembly seats in the district. He said Maulana Asadullah, a former MNA, was the joint candidate of JI and MMA for NA-6.

Mr Ahmad said district councillor Shad Nawaz Khan would contest from PK-13, Dir-I, former MPA Dr Zakirullah Khan from PK-14, Dir- II, former minister Muzafar Syed from PK-15, Dir-III, former MPA Izazul Mulk Afkari from PK-16, Dir-IV and former MPA Saeed Gul from PK-17, Dir-V constituency.

He claimed that the MMA would clean sweep the next general elections both in the Lower and Upper Dir districts, and would also form the next government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

MAN INJURED DURING ROBBERY: A man was injured and deprived of Rs6.5 million after two motorcyclists opened fire on him during a robbery attempt at the Timergara bus stand on Friday.

Witnesses said Pervez, a resident of Wari area, was shot and injured by two motorcyclists, who also took away with a bag of money the man was carrying. The injured was taken to the district headquarters hospital, Timergara, where his condition was stated to be out of danger. The police registered a case and started further investigations.

TRADERS WARNED AGAINST PROFITEERING: The district administration on Friday warned the traders against profiteering and hoarding.

Assistant Commissioner, Timergara, Mohammad Ashfaq Ahmad along with officials of food department visited the fruit and vegetable market to observe the rates of various food items. He conducted the visit on the directives of the deputy commissioner.

On the occasion, Mr Ahmad issued a fresh price list of fruits and vegetables, and asked the traders to prominently display on the list at their outlets.

The consumers were asked to contact the control room set up in the office of each assistant commissioner in case of violation of the price list.
