NAROWAL: Federal Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday hit out at the rival political parties saying “the conspirators against the PML-N staged sit-ins and tried to excite religious sentiments of people.”

He, along with Federal Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafiq, inaugurated the new building of the railway station and other projects.

The interior minister said: “The aliens are conspiring against the PML-N. Nawaz Sharif made Pakistan an atomic country despite external pressure but still he is called a traitor.”

He also credited the PML-N with ending loadshedding. “There was 20-hour loadshedding when the party assumed charge and it has made a record by generating 10,518MW electricity in five years.”

He said the government with the support and cooperation of armed forces broke the back of terrorism. “Today the world doesn’t call Pakistan a dangerous country rather it is called an emerging economy. During the last five years investment worth billions of dollars is done in Pakistan and a number of development projects have been completed. Many projects are under process…,” he said.

He urged the constituents to elect the PML-N once again to enable it to complete projects.

He said CPEC was a great boon for the country and China had made an investment of billions of rupees. Imran Khan first called it a fraud and then admitted it was a game changer, he said.

Khwaja Saad Rafiq said the credit for CPEC goes to Ahsan Iqbal and it had lauched the country on the path to development and prosperity. He expressed hope that the people would vote for the PML-N on July 25.

The minister announced an express train on Narowal-Lahore Section from June 10 and upgrade of Baddomalhi and Narang Mandi railway stations.

Earlier, Mr Rafiq reached Narowal from Lahore by a special train and Ahsan Iqbal welcomed him at the railway station.

The interior minister inaugurated the University of Narowal spread over 100 acre to pay homage to Dr Ashfaque Ahmad. He laid foundation stone of Dr Ashfaque Ahmad Center of Basic Sciences at the university.

He also inaugurated the under-construction UET campus and Narowal-Pasrur-Daska carpeted road. The road project is being carried out with the cooperation of the World Bank at a cost of Rs1 billion.
