CHARSADDA: Four people were killed and two others were wounded in a clash between rival groups over a dispute on a piece of graveyard land in Harichand area of Tangi tehsil here on Tuesday.

According to the police and local residents, Hakeemullah, brother of Abdul Hameed, was killed in a road accident, and his relatives and other villages were digging a grave for him, but members of a rival party, also from the same village and relatives of the accident victim, intervened and tried to stop the grave digging.

The intervention led to exchange of arguments among the members of both the parties, leading them to open fire at each other.

As a result of the exchange of fire, Abdul Hameed was killed and Ibrahim was injured from one side, while Maazullah, Ishaq, and Zeshan were killed from the other side.

The police and area people rushed to the site of the incident and tried to make a ceasefire between the two sides. The injured and bodies were shifted to the rural health centre in Jamalabad for carrying out postmortem of the bodies.

A cross FIR was registered in the Mandani police station.

Riaz, one of the injured, got registered a case against rivals Adnan, Ashfaq, Mushtaq, Wadood, Misal, Imran and Ibrahim. Injured Ibrahim lodged FIR against Rahmatullah, Mohibullah, Saifullah, Tahir and Rayab, the members of the other group.

SP investigations also reached the spot, collected evidence and ordered further investigations into the incident.
