KARACHI, May 27: Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro said the government was trying hard to provide quality education to the children of government schools. Within couple of years all government schools will be equipped with IT education, laboratories and libraries, she further said.

Dr Khuhro was addressing a certificate distribution ceremony of heads of secondary schools at a hotel, here on Friday.

At the ceremony 413 heads of five districts’ secondary and higher secondary schools received certificates.

They had been given leadership training of school administration, financial management, academic supervision and expertise in spoken English and IT.

Dr Khuhro said the public sector schools were facing huge problems but she was trying to enhance quality of education in these schools through shortcuts and the teachers’ training programme was a part of such efforts.

She said she was there to see the positive results of training programme and announced that under this programme every serving and newly recruited teacher would be provided such value added professional development.

The Additional Secretary (Academics Training) of Education, Dr Mahboob Shaikh, City School Managing Dr Farzana Feroz, Director Professional Development, Mrs Methew and others also spoke on the occasion.

Later, the minister distributed certificates among the trainees.—APP
