FAISALABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday busted another gang involved in draining accounts of the poor women registered with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and arrested nine of the gang members.

FIA Faisalabad Additional Director Sajid Akram said the raid had been conducted in Warispura, Goal Chowk and Iqbal Nagar and the raiding team seized five biometric tabs, 200 unregistered SIMs, 150 BISP forms and 630 computerised national identity cards.

He said the suspects, namely Ali Haidar, Imran Jamil, Imran Khan, Riaz Ahmad, Muhammad Shafique, Shahzad Hassan, Muhammad Kashif, Muhammad Asfan and Muhammad Naeem, could not justify the possession of the material seized they had got. A case has been registered against the suspects.

Employees of a cellular company and a private bank were also allegedly involved in this fraud.

This is the second raid by the FIA Faisalabad regarding BISP funds fraud during the last one week.
