APROPOS the article “Improving teaching standards” (April 20). Writer Faisal Bari has emphasized the need to seek devices to find out teachers with a passion for teaching as such teachers matter most in improving standards and student learning (April 20).

There is always room for improvement, so there is a need for sincere search for good teachers and their foolproof training afterwards. Teaching is a continuous process in everyone’s life. Man learnt how to bury the dead from a crow by observing the process.

Modern teaching techniques and tools have been developed to impart education effectively. Education priority all over the world has urged upon the government functionaries to improve the teaching standards in their educational institutions.

Teaching in the classroom is the yardstick of judging education quality. The teacher is responsible for utilizing the time wisely. The topic is generally spread over a period and the time allotted to the material of the topic according to comprehension level of the subject matter. A fully prepared teacher teaches the class by keeping in mind the assimilation level of each student.

The experienced instructor avoids repetition and explains the difficult area of the topic through examples and comparisons making the lesson easy for students. A competent teacher makes the lesson interesting by using revisionary method and by displaying charts. A trained teacher applied different methods of lesson plan to convey topic successfully to the class. The art of questioning is very dexterously exercised to consolidate the lecture being given. Good teachers now and then give practice of writing to the class for removing ambiguity, if any, in the communication of the lesson and to note the important points of the lesson.

The state has great onus of educating the youth for the country’s development. The ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor and other mega projects demand excellent teaching standards in the country.
