QUETTA: In an attempt to give priority to the education sector, the Balochistan government has earmarked a substantial amount in its budget for the fiscal year 2018-19.

Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo while addressing the students of Government Girls Degree College Quetta Cant during a laptop distribution ceremony urged all the parents to educate their children. Educated mothers, he said, helped develop an educated society.

He criticised the former governments for not doing enough in the education sector and making only tall claims.

“We have less time to do more as the government has allocated 28 per cent of its budget for educational development.”

Provincial Minister for Education Tahir Mehmood Khan, former minister Mir Faiq Ali Jamali and other senior officials of the education department were also present on the occasion.

Mr Bizenjo said that he had fulfilled his promise of last visit by distributing laptops among the students and added: “It’s up to you now to enhance your educational knowledge and work for the prosperity of Balochistan”.

Sharing views on Balochistan Awami Party, Mr Bizenjo said people of the province could not be further divided on ethnic grounds. All communities living here are people of Balochistan. He urged students to exercise their right to franchise by electing a representative who should work for development and prosperity.
