Imran Khan has forgotten all the favours we did to him: Nawaz Sharif

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has "forgotten all the favours" done to him by the Sharif family back in the day.

Addressing a rally of his supporters in Sadiqabad, Sharif, who was last year deemed unfit to hold public office in the landmark Panama Papers judgement, reminded the PTI chief how he had helped him with his cancer hospital in the 1990s.

"[Khan] forgot everything I did for him while he was playing cricket," Sharif said. "[He forgot] how much we contributed in building Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital."

"I did all that because I felt it was my duty as the prime minister of the time," he added.

A day earlier, Sharif had claimed that the ruling PML-N will be competing against “hidden forces” in the upcoming general elections and not against Khan's PTI or former president Asif Ali Zardari’s Pakistan Peoples Party.

He doubled down on that stance today, telling his supporters that his real foes are "celestial beings that cannot be seen".

"Imran Khan is nothing, [Asif] Zardari is nothing," Sharif said. "They are not the people I'm standing against," he added.

IK even does not remember his own province which gave him majority. for instance anything happens in Punjab and IK is there within couple of minutes but if same thing happens in KPK he does not care at all. For instance you have witnessed him campaigning for Gold smith and opposed own Pakistani Sadiq Khan for Mayor elections. He will remember your favours? no way. IK does not even favour voters where IK said he will hire 100 best professionals and ended up hiring Aamir Liaqat, Raja Riaz, firdaus, Babar awan and many others. Do you think he will remember favour given to him by voters? no never.

(Nawaz Sharif) Imran Khan, a cricketer, took the initiative to construct a Cancer Hospital for the public with free service for the poor and NS felt he was doing good work so he allotted GOVT land for the purpose. Where is the favor to IK he is claiming? Did he contribute from his own pocket? "I did all that (allotment of government land for Cancer Hospital) because I felt it was my duty as the prime minister of the time," he added ( Nawaz Sharif). In NS 35 years in the govt has he done anything like this or just robbed the country?

Is he serious? Building a cancer hospital is serving people. If NS helped then he should be proud of it instead of counting as a favor to IK. Secondly it was not NS private land that was alloted for the hospital. Stop doing politics over a cancer hospital. He should be ashamed especially when his own wife is dealing with the disease.

What favours? At one time NS says he did it as it was his duty as the PM. On other hand he is reminding of favours? Mr. NS - if you did it as a favour, then it is called "conflict of interest" and you should be charged of misusing your position at that time. In one breath Quaid-for-Life of PML-N claims that he was doing his duty as a prime minister but then go on to contradict himself and asserts that he did favors to Imran Khan. Which is true? Using the royal "we," he goes on to state that he contributed money for building Shaukat Kanam Hospital. If it was tax-payer money, then the boast is a shameful lie.
