LAHORE: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan of his house after his deaf wife refused to reconcile with him in the Kot Lakhpat area on Tuesday.

The man was identified as Ali Waqas, a resident of Chungi Amar Sadhu. His wife had left him sometime back over a family dispute and started living with her parents.

He went to his in-laws’ residence to bring his estranged wife back and she refused to accept his pleas, the police said. He came back home and allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.

Waqas’s family alerted the police after the incident.

The police handed over the body to the family after legal formalities.

A fruit seller was allegedly shot dead over a monetary dispute in the Shadbagh area.

Identified as Salman (40), the deceased was a resident of Ashraf Park. He had a monetary dispute with a local, Atif.

The police said Salman and Atif scuffled with each other and the latter opened fire on the former.

Salman was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
