LAHORE: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan of his house after his deaf wife refused to reconcile with him in the Kot Lakhpat area on Tuesday.

The man was identified as Ali Waqas, a resident of Chungi Amar Sadhu. His wife had left him sometime back over a family dispute and started living with her parents.

He went to his in-laws’ residence to bring his estranged wife back and she refused to accept his pleas, the police said. He came back home and allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.

Waqas’s family alerted the police after the incident.

The police handed over the body to the family after legal formalities.

MURDER: Two persons were killed over monetary disputes in separate incidents in the city.

A fruit seller was allegedly shot dead over a monetary dispute in the Shadbagh area.

Identified as Salman (40), the deceased was a resident of Ashraf Park. He had a monetary dispute with a local, Atif.

The police said Salman and Atif scuffled with each other and the latter opened fire on the former.

Salman was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police sent the body to morgue for autopsy and lodged a case against the suspect.

In the second incident, a young man allegedly shot dead his friend over a money dispute at Gujjarpura.

Ghulam Rabbani of Kot Khwaja Saeed and Allah Ditta already exchanged harsh words with each other over Rs250,000 that the former had borrowed from the latter.

On Tuesday, Allah Ditta got annoyed when Rabbani again demanded his money back from him. He brought a pistol and shot at and injured Rabbani.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The assailant fled the scene.

The police lodged a murder case against Allah Ditta after post-mortem report on the complaint of the deceased’s wife.
