RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz arrived in Islamabad from London late on Sunday night.

They rushed back to the country to attend the hearing in the Avenfield apartments reference against them on Monday after the accountability court judge rejected their application seeking exemption for personal appearance till April 27.

Mr Sharif, along with his daughter, had left for the United Kingdom on April 18 to see his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz, who has been undergoing cancer treatment there.

“At the Heathrow (airport in London). Leaving for Islamabad shortly. Will arrive in the wee hours to be at the court, Insha Allah. Goodbyes are always hard,” Ms Maryam tweeted just before their departure for Islamabad.
