TIMERGARA: Traders in Talash here on Thursday observed a brief shutter down strike and staged a protest rally against the administration for imposing heavy fines on them.

The shopkeepers shut their shops on the call of Anjuman-i-Tajaran, Talash, and blocked the Timergara-Peshawar road briefly.

Traders’ body leader Sher Mohammad and others alleged that officers of the Timergara administration had been teasing shopkeepers on different pretexts. They added that the administration imposed illegal and heavy fines on traders on the pretext of violation of price list and unhygienic condition.

They claimed that traders had been following the official price list, observing cleanliness and avoiding selling substandard items. They threatened to bring people of the area on road if the action was not stopped.

PEACE HIGHLIGHTED: Leaders of Pakistan Zindabad Movement (PZM), Lower Dir, on Thursday said that they would not let anyone to disturb peace which the security forces had restored after rendering matchless sacrifices.

Speaking at a press conference at Timergara Press Club, PZM Lower Dir president Amjad Ali, general secretary Mohammad Salim and others said that they supported the genuine demands of Manzoor Pashteen of PTM, but they wouldn’t let anyone to defame the country’s institutions.

They announced to organise a gathering at Timergara Rest House in support of the Pakistan Army and state institutions.

Meanwhile, the Lower Dir administration on Thursday asked ulema to play their role in creating awareness of dengue prevention in the district.

Addressing local ulema at Balambat, deputy commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram said that the administration had planned various activities to raise awareness of dengue fever. The district health officer, district naib nazim and prayer leaders attended the meeting.
