MURREE: A student was killed and four others were injured when a group of youngsters opened fire on their van near Mashine Stop on a road between Kotli Sattiyan and Burhad village on Thursday.

The van of a technical college located in Kotli Sattiyan was carrying 12 female students towards Burhad village when it came under fire.

The injured were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Kotli Sattiyan from where one of them, Areeba, a resident of Kamra village, was referred to Rawalpindi. However, she died on way to Rawalpindi.

The other injured students were admitted to the THQ hospital. They included Eesha Batool, Haleeema Iqbal and Aiman Nawaz.

Local people protested against the incident and blocked the Kotli-Kashmir Road for hours.

They gave a deadline of 12 hours to the police to arrest the suspects and dispersed.
