TIMERGARA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nursing Association, Lower Dir chapter, on Wednesday criticised the government for delaying announcement of service structure, timescale promotion, risk allowance and scale-wise professional allowance for nurses working in the government hospitals and announced to start a protest campaign against the government from April 14.

In this regard, a meeting of the association was held here with its provincial president Inayatul Haq in the chair. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Haq and Lower Dir president Hidayatullah said that the government had promised to approve service structure for the nursing staff, but it had been delaying the mater for unknown reasons.

They meeting announced to observe complete boycott of duties from April 14 to 16. It said that that nursing staff would gather in Peshawar on April 18 for a protest sit-in which would continue till acceptance of their demands.

Says govt ignoring nurses’ demands for allowances, service structure

Meanwhile, strike by the employees of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Malakand, continued for 19th consecutive day on Wednesday as they boycotted duties after 2pm against the government’s proposed boards’ act and centralisation policy.

The employees threatened to boycott the upcoming intermediate examinations if the government failed to accept their demands till April 20. The employees staged a protest rally on the board premises.

Speaking on the occasion, employees’ leaders Mukhtiar Khan and Anwar Badshah alleged that the government had planned to abolish boards’ autonomy and wanted to bring them under the control of education secretariat.

They said the proposed law would hurt the autonomous status of educational boards in the province which would increase miseries of the students, parents and teachers.

KILLED: Two women identified as wife of Imdadullah and wife of Toor Sam were killed when lightning hit their houses at Kolalan Maskini Darra, a remote hilly area here the other night. Residents said that both the women were taken to DHQ hospital, Timergara, in critical condition, where they succumbed to their injuries.
