Corrigendum

Published March 31, 2018

With reference to The Dawn of Advertising in Pakistan (1947-2017) two photographs accompanying two articles are incorrectly captioned ‘Going up in smoke!’ on page 33.

The caption should read: “Prior to the restrictions imposed on tobacco advertising, cigarette brands were one of the most heavily advertised product categories across all media, including Dawn. This is evident from the fact that almost a decade ago, the estimated advertising budget of the tobacco industry in Pakistan was Rs 55 million.”

‘Fault lines beyond media’ on page 50.

The caption should read “Journalists Wusat Ullah Khan, Mubashir Zaidi, Zarrar Khuhro (left to right) are engaged in lively debate. For more than three years, the trio comes together on the popular current affairs talk show Zara Hut Kay every week night from Monday to Friday and enlightens – and entertains – their audiences with witty banter and political insight as they discuss a host of topics.

Zara Hut Kay is a Dawn News programme. The channel was launched in 2007 and is widely respected for its credible reporting, free of the sensationalism prevalent in most other Pakistani news channels. (photo: Arif Mahmood/Dawn White Star)”
