Airport scanner

Published March 24, 2018

A STATE-of-the-art scanner was installed about a year ago at the cargo terminal at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, for scanning all the goods for carriage on international flights.

The scanner was a gift from the people of Japan to Pakistan. The scanner is in control of the Airports Security Force (ASF).

It has not been utilised for the last six or eight months as it is lying unserviceable. I would appreciate if someone from the ASF explains why this valuable machine is lying unserviceable and what steps have been take to rectify the fault in the scanner.

I failed to understand why this careless attitude has not been checked by the authorities concerned.
