QUETTA: Players of Quetta City (in green) and DFA Quetta vie for ball control during the quarter-final on Tuesday.

QUETTA: The second quarter-final of PPL Balochistan Football Cup saw DFA Quetta face off against Quetta City in a much-awaited encounter witnessed by enthusiastic supporters at Sadiq Shaheed Football Stadium (Malibagh) here.

DFA Quetta defeated Quetta City 2-0.

The technically-equipped and experienced DFA Quetta side kept pressure on the young Quetta City team since the beginning. The latter, however, tried to balance through a couple of good moves but could not convert these into goals.

Isteglal scored the first goal in the 30th minute while grabbing an opportunity from a careless defence. The second goal came in the last minute when DFA Quetta captain Nazeer Ahmed made a beautiful move from the right wing dodging two defenders before putting the ball into the goal.

Isteglal was declared the man of the match.

The remaining two quarter-finals will be played between Kharan and Dukki teams and champions and runners-up of last year’s tournament, Panjgur and DFA Chaman. Gwadar have already reached the semi-final after defeating Chaman City earlier.
