PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party has decided to field its candidates in all constituencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in next general elections and asked its district level office-bearers to step up efforts for mobilisation of masses to ensure success of the party nominees in respective areas.

The QWP also decided to resist the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan regarding delimitation of constituencies and asked its office-bearers to focus on preparations for the general election.

It decided to consult other parties for political struggle to undo the controversy over delimitation before the elections.

According to a statement, the decisions were made during a party consultation at Watan Kor, Peshawar, on Sunday.

The meeting was chaired by party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, and attended by provincial chairman Sikandar Sherpao, provincial general secretary Hashim Babar and office-bearers of provincial cabinet, zones and chairmen and general secretaries of different districts and party wings.

Mr Sherpao asked the participants to start election campaign and present the party programme to people.

He said that the delimitation of the constituencies seemed to create chaos and his party would continue its peaceful political struggle against it.

He regretted that the consensus of the main political parties had been ignored in the delimitation procedures, which would ultimately increase the agonies of masses as well.

He said that all the stakeholders should focus on smooth conduct of the next general election.

Mr Sherpao asked the participants to continue activities for mobilising the party supporters for next elections.

He claimed that QWP had emerged as the lone voice for the rights of the oppressed.
