Murad in Hyderabad

Published February 23, 2018

THIS refers to a recent personal visit to Hyderabad by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah where he came along with about 40 protocol vehicles.

A majority of them were police vans stuffed with, of course, alert and armed police guards. Apart from this escort, policemen were deputed along both sides of the road. Sindh police personnel were as alert as they could be, unlike their usual slackness which they show whenever there is no ‘VIP’ around.

Despite poor road conditions, the convoy whizzed past us in a matter of minutes. While the population is thin in this part of the city, what was the justification for a caravan of 40 vehicles in an area as remote as this?
