KARACHI, May 13: The City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, has said uplift works in rural localities of the metropolis were part of the city government’s efforts to equally improve the state of affairs in all parts of the city. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremonies of a model park and 50-bed hospital at Gadap Town on Thursday night.

He said the city government had played its role with keen interest in carrying out development works and resolving civic problems in both Gadap and Bin Qasim towns that mostly comprised rural populations.

About water scarcity in Gadap Town, Mr Niamat said it would be resolved on priority basis.

The nazim asked the Nazim of Gadap Town, Ghulam Murtaza, to furnish him a written proposal in this regard forthwith, assuring him that the issue would be resolved within a week of receiving the proposal.

While expressing concern over the lifting of sand and gravel from these rural localities, he said the situation was not only affecting agriculture, but also resulting in water scarcity.

Replying to a query, he said the city government was also taking measures to redress complaints of the absence of doctors and teachers from hospitals and schools. Efforts in this regard were bearing fruit and the situation would hopefully be improved through coordinated efforts in the new system, he viewed.— PPI
