PESHAWAR: PPP provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan said that the Supreme Court’s decision against Nawaz Sharif was a live example of the fact that history repeated itself.

He said in a statement that Nawaz Sharif had made several attempts for disqualification of Benazir Bhutto but he always failed to do so.

The PPP leader said that the disqualified prime minister should accept the court’s decision and avoid confrontation with judiciary.

He said that PPP always respected court’s decisions and did not protest even after disqualification of its then prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Meanwhile, reacting to holding kuli kutcheris by deputy commissioners in different districts, PPP has asked the government to stop this practice or announce ‘commissioner system’ in the province.

PPP former provincial president Asma Alamgir in a statement here on Thursday said that provincial government failed to deliver so it directed the deputy commissioners to hold kuli kutcheris in different villages.

She said that the administration was forcing people through revenue officials to participate in the kuli kutcheris.

“It is immoral and irrational,” she added.

Ms Alamgir said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership confined itself to the protest rallies and sit-ins but did nothing for welfare of the people in the province.

She said that the party was using administration for kuki kutcheris at village level to show its presence.

The PPP leader said that holding kuli kutcheris meant that provincial government had admitted its failure to devise plans for resolution of problems of people during its tenure.

“It is now pressurising people through revenue officials,” she alleged.

Ms Alamgir said that PPP would not let the government to pressurise people.

She said that her party would raise forceful voice against all kinds of illegal steps taken by the officials.
