KARACHI: Unseeded Furqan Patel cruised into his maiden men’s singles final where he will be up against top seed Atta Abbas as curtain falls on the sixth Dr Essa Mohammad ranking table tennis tournament at the Sindh Sports Board Complex on Saturday.

Patel, who plays for Fatimiya Sports Complex, gets the better of Kaif Riaz in the best of seven encounter 7-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-13, 11-3, 11-8 while Abbas was home against Arsalan Alvi straight 11-9, 11-3, 11-9, 11-4 in the two semi-finals played on Friday.

Second seed Hussain Virani and fourth seed Farhan Hashim have met their fate to unseeded Bilal Tariq and Arsalan Alvi in the pre quarter-finals the other day while third seed Khawar Mahmood fell prey to Patel who won 11-7, 11-7, 11-8, 13-11 in the quarters.
