LAHORE: Pakistan beat Oman 3-0 to kick start their tri-nation hockey tournament campaign at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Wednesday.

All three goals were scored through field attempts. Pakistan were ahead by two goals at halftime.

Shafqat Rasool, who has been recalled after a long time, was one of the scorers.

Ali Shan put Pakistan ahead in the 13th minute, while Aijaz Ahmad doubled the lead in the 21st before Shafqat hit the last goal of the match in the 45th minute.

World number 16 Japan will take on Pakistan on Thursday.
