LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz to visit Kasur on a daily basis till the murderer(s) of six-year-old Zainab are arrested.

Presiding over a meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order here on Saturday, the chief minister said he would not accept any excuse in case of delay in the arrest of the perpetrators.

“Facts should be brought to the knowledge of the people after the arrest of the culprits so that the bereaved family gets justice,” he said.

He said those involved in the brutal murder of Zainab would not escape punishment.

Shahbaz further said all requisites of justice would be fulfilled in the killing of two persons (by police firing) and the suspects would be punished.

“I will personally monitor the progress on both cases,” he said and directed the IGP to visit Kasur daily to review the progress on both cases. He said the IGP could use his (chief minister’s) helicopter.

Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah, Imran Nazir, spokesperson for Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmad, the chief secretary, the JIT head (in Zainab case), the Sheikhupura RPO and the Kasur DPO were present in the meeting.
