SIALKOT: Four armed men allegedly created harassment among journalists by firing shots at the main gate of the Sialkot Press Club late on Wednesday night.
Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed, general secretary of the Sialkot Press Club, told the Rangpura police that many journalists were inside the building when four armed men on two motorcycles fired bullets on the main gate. They fled firing in the air, creating harassment among the newsmen and passersby.
The management of the press club submitted a formal application to the Rangpura police for registration of a case. Senior police officials visited the press club and got information on Thursday.
The journalists staged a protest demonstration and passed a resolution demanding arrest of the suspects.
ARREST: Police on Thursday arrested a man who allegedly entered the prohibited area of the airport. According to police, the man was identified as Luqman Iqbal, a resident of Gujranwala.
Police sent him behind the bars after registering a case against him.
POACHERS FINED: Teams of the wildlife department claim to have arrested 19 poachers who were found hunting prohibited and migratory birds.
Wildlife Department Inspector Talib Hussain told newsmen that they had fined Rs160,000 to Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Ahmed, Manzur Ahmed, Ali Akbar, Muhammad Usman, Naveed Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem, Akbar, Sharif, Haider Ali, Jamshaid, Masud Ahmed, Anjum, Saeed, Liaquat Ali, Aslam, Zeeshan, Akram and Imran. They were later released.
