ISLAMABAD: Wapda defended their Men’s National Volleyball Championship title with a 3-1 victory over Pakistan Navy in the final at the POF Sports Complex at Wah Cantt on Sunday.

Murad Khan, Naseer Ahmed and Muneer Khan starred for Wapda despite Navy’s aggressive start as they won 25-22, 26-28, 25-17, 25-18.

Wasit and Abuzar’s forceful smashes saw Navy gain the ascendancy but Naseer and Muneer rescued the side with three straight points to win the first game.

Navy won an enthralling second game, despite seeing a 23-21 lead slip, to level matters but Wapda regained the lead by winning the third and making their opponents pay for their mistakes while serving.

Wapda started the fourth game in disastrous fashion, falling 4-0 behind but rebounded superbly to seal the result and yet another title.

Earlier, Pakistan Army beat Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 3-1 with game scores being 26-24, 21-25, 25-18, 25-20 to get third place.
