DADU, May 3: Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi has announced a special package for Hesco defaulters of the Dadu district. According to the package, 20 per cent of the dues would be recovered from them without taxes including the sales tax while remaining 80 per cent would be waived off.

He was addressing a meeting of Hesco officials in Betto Jatoi on Tuesday.

Hesco chief Adeebul Hassan Rizvi, chief engineer Sharif Ansari, project director (construction) Habibullah Khilji and Khawaja Maqbool attended the meeting.

He said the defaulters should get their electricity bills corrected from this month and pay through the nearest banks without delay.

He said the defaulters would have to pay 20 per cent of the total amount.

He also announced another package for the district according to which meters would be provided to power consumers for Rs200 from May 3.

The minister said gird stations would be constructed in New Jatoi, Sita Road, Bakshahpur, Taloee and Tando Bago.

He said at a cost of Rs80 million, electrification of 131 villages would be completed by June 30.

Later, speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of Faridabad grid station, he said the Nai Gaj dam would benefit local people as rainwater would be stored during the monsoon.

He said the construction work of Nai Gaj dam would be completed during his tenure after technical survey of the area.

He said water would be supplied to villages of the Kachho area for drinking purpose after construction of the dam and hundreds of acre barren land would be cultivated.

He said this would also provide water to the Manchhar Lake and Nai Gaj would not cause any loss during the monsoon.

He said the Nai Gaj water was sweet and it would be used for power house also.
